Balance
Although the common perception of balance is a state of having all elements in equal proportion, this is not necessarily the way to achieve a life that is in balance.
Having balance in your life means having the right elements in varying amounts, but fitting them carefully together to allow you to maintain a sense of being centered.
This state of equilibrium, and the dynamic that allows one to achieve it, is different for each individual. Some may require a great deal of private or family time in their life in order to feel balanced, while others need more time interacting socially. Various individuals also need different amounts of challenge, relaxation, physical exercise, creative expression, or emotional comforting.
The key lies not in following a set formula to bring all aspects of your life into a set pattern, but in exploring your own needs in every part of your life to determine what combination feels right for you.
Balance does not mean symmetry, it means equilibrium.
A life out of balance is spent trying to keep from falling over. This wastes effort, and results in feelings of always compensating for something that is lacking. A life that is in balance allows energy to be focused on achieving our goals.
